Shadow Glenn
RTU – Houston’s First Choice for Dependable Roofing & Solar Solutions

Last spring, I got a frantic call from a homeowner on Caldera Way, right in the heart of ShadowGlen. One of those violent Central Texas hailstorms had just blown through, and they were watching water drip into their upstairs game room. Their home had taken a real beating from hail, and the damage was already showing. That’s exactly the kind of situation where Roofing Technologies Unlimited has built our reputation over the past five years serving this Manor community.
Here in ShadowGlen, you’ve got a beautiful mix of single-story ranch homes and two-story traditional designs spread across 1,400 acres. The community started in 2003 and is still growing, with homes built at different times over the years. They’re solid homes, don’t get me wrong. But those open fairways and wide-open spaces around the golf course? They don’t offer much protection when severe weather comes rolling in from the west. I’ve worked on homes from the original neighborhoods near ShadowGlen Golf Club all the way to the newer sections closer to Shadowglen Trace.
The thing about this area, and I’ve been telling homeowners this for years – is that our Texas climate just doesn’t play around. We get intense summer heat that bakes those asphalt shingles, then boom, sudden hailstorms that can undo years of gradual wear in maybe ten minutes. It’s crazy how fast things can change out here.
Why ShadowGlen Residents Trust RTU
Living off Highway 290 like this, you need someone who gets it. Someone who understands what it’s like when that weather alert goes off on your phone at 2 AM and you’re lying there wondering if your roof can handle whatever’s coming. Most of these homes have those beautiful open-concept layouts, which is great until you realize a roof leak in one spot can quickly turn into a mess in your kitchen, living room, and dining area all at the same time.
Around here, we see it all. Minor wind damage after those summer thunderstorms that seem to pop up out of nowhere. Complete roof damage from hail that leaves you scrambling to call your insurance company. And plenty of situations where homeowners think everything looks fine after a storm, but then six months later they’re calling us because they’ve got water stains spreading across their ceiling.
The proximity to Austin is great for commuting, but it also means you’re sitting right in the path of some serious weather systems that move through Central Texas between March and June.
Complete Roofing Services for ShadowGlen Homes
As a trusted roofing contractor, Roofing Technologies Unlimited handles everything this community throws at us. Emergency roof repairs are probably our most common calls. When you’ve got water coming through your master bedroom ceiling after a storm, you need someone who can get out there fast and make temporary repairs while we work with your insurance company.
For complete roof replacements, we walk families through the choice between traditional architectural shingles and impact-resistant materials. A lot of ShadowGlen homeowners don’t realize that upgrading to Class 4 impact-resistant shingles can qualify them for insurance discounts. Sometimes those discounts help offset the price difference.
Our roof inspection services have really taken off as people learn to be proactive. Even when you can’t see obvious damage after a hail event, there’s often granule loss and mat damage that shows up later. We also handle storm damage repair, leaky roof fixes, asphalt roofing, residential roofing services, and roof maintenance throughout the year.
New roof installation is another big part of what we do, especially as some of those early 2000s roofs start reaching the end of their lifespan.
Weather Challenges in Manor Texas
The rolling terrain around ShadowGlen creates some interesting wind patterns. I’ve noticed that homes on the north side of the community – closer to those nature trails that run along Wilberger Creek, tend to get more debris damage from tree branches during high winds.
Heat is just brutal on roofs in this part of Manor. When we hit 95+ degrees with heat index pushing over 100, which happens more often than I’d like – those south-facing roof slopes really take a beating. That constant cycle of heating up during the day and cooling down at night? It gradually breaks down shingle materials and can cause premature curling. I see it all the time out here.
I’ve also learned that different sections of ShadowGlen sometimes have different installation standards. The newer areas around where The Flats apartment complex is located sometimes have different approaches than what we see in the original golf course neighborhoods. That’s why we always do thorough inspections before recommending whether you need repairs or a full replacement.
Our ShadowGlen Roofing Experience Speaks
Over the years, I’ve worked on roofs throughout this community. From those luxury homes with golf course views on Pillion Place to the more affordable single-story homes near the elementary school that’s part of Manor ISD. Each section has its own personality, and understanding those details matters when we’re helping families make decisions about timing and materials.
We’ve also done plenty of work in nearby Pflugerville and Elgin, so we understand how ShadowGlen fits into the broader Travis County market. That knowledge helps us document damage correctly and advocate for our customers when they’re dealing with insurance claims.
Whether you’re dealing with storm damage, planning ahead for an aging roof, or just want a professional assessment after one of our notorious Texas weather events, Roofing Technologies Unlimited brings both local knowledge and solid technical expertise to every project we take on. The combination of this community’s great amenities and Central Texas weather patterns means roof maintenance isn’t something you can put off – it’s essential for protecting your investment in one of Manor’s most sought-after neighborhoods.
To make things even easier, we’ve added a Google Map at the bottom of this page showing directions from ShadowGlen to our office.
